Russel Chappell
Park Host
Russel grew up in Los Angeles, through scouting and a father that grew up in very rural Utah, Russel was exposed to and developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors. Russel passed that on to his children and grandchildren and they all embrace being outdoors as much as they can. After retirement from AT&T he spent eight years as a campground host in a very remote location in the Central Sierras (Jackass Meadow at Florence Lake). In his spare time, his wife and him enjoy various forms of gardening (fruit trees, seasonal vegetables and herbs, succulents, cactus, and we dabble in Bonsai). They are involved in various non-profit organizations. Russel is excited to be involved with the San Juaquin River Parkway and Trust in creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere where visitors can enjoy these facilities while preserving this section of the San Joaquin River.
