The Trust hires a number of seasonal full-time and part-time staff for programs and projects throughout the year. See descriptions below for approximate timeframes for position advertisement and hiring.

Internship

Career Pathways Internship
The Career Pathways intern will gain hands-on experience in environmental science, cultural resources, public safety, interpretation, park operations, and cross-program work with the Trust. Designed for college-age participants or emerging professionals, this program blends field work, public engagement, technical skill-building, and professional networking. Interns will rotate through different focus areas, building a broad understanding of park stewardship, non-profit operations, and environmental careers. The majority of work will take place outdoors. River Camp 2026 Leadership Team Positions
River Camp Young Explorers Site Director
The Young Explorers Site Director is responsible for directing the Young Explorers preschool day camp program, which takes place on weekday mornings from mid-June to early August. The Young Explorers Director will help further the mission of Parkway through the development and implementation of outdoor experiential education activities for youth ages 3.5 through entering Kindergarten. River Camp Academy Site Director
The River Camp Academy Director is responsible for directing a 1st – 6th grade STEM-based River Camp program for participating Unified School Districts, managing River Camp Academy staff, overseeing day-to-day program activities, and assisting with administrative duties as required by School Districts. The River Camp Academy Director will help further the mission of Parkway through the development and implementation of outdoor experiential education activities as part of the River Camp programs. River Camp Academy Field Director
The River Camp Academy Field Director is responsible for assisting with the implementation of daily schedules for the River Camp Academy program, a 1st – 6th grade STEM-based River Camp program for participating Unified School Districts, coaching River Camp Academy staff, and overseeing day-to-day program activities. This individual will help further the mission of Parkway through the implementation of outdoor experiential education activities as part of the day camp programs. River Camp Rangers Site Director
The River Camp Rangers Director is responsible for directing the River Camp Rangers STEM-based day camp program at Owl Hollow for 6th-8th grade campers. The River Camp Rangers Director will help further the mission of Parkway through the development and implementation of outdoor experiential education activities as part of the day camp programs. River Camp 2026 General Staff Positions

River Camp Head Counselor
  • River Camp Head Counselors are responsible for providing ongoing training on group management techniques, leadership development, and environmental education activities with Counselors, under guidance and supervision of River Camp Site Directors, will lead environmental education and STEM based camp games and activities for groups of up to 40 campers and will assist the River Camp Site Director with daily tasks, activities and miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

  • River Camp Adventurers Only: Head Counselors are responsible for morning check-in, and afternoon check-out at the River Center. The two Head Counselors will split the morning and afternoon shifts throughout the summer.
  • Head Counselors are responsible for early camper drop off and late camper pick up at the River Center.

River Camp Lifeguard
River Camp Lifeguards are responsible for the set up/removal of the swim zone daily, overseeing all waterfront activities, assisting in general set up/clean up daily, and other duties as assigned. River Camp Counselor
River Camp Counselors are responsible for leading groups of 10 – 14 campers (pre-k thought high school, site dependent), overseeing basic group management for their group. Counselors will lead environmental education activities, STEM based learning, arts and crafts, and provide additional supervision during water activities. River Camp Academy at Sumner Peck Ranch Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistants at River Camp Academy at Sumner Peck Ranch will help further the mission of the San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust, Inc. (Parkway) through communicating with camp families, school districts, and Parkway staff to help ensure participation of hundreds of campers from local school districts. This individual will serve as a liaison between camp families, school district staff, and the River Camp Academy Site Director.
