River Camp Young Explorers

Young children thrive with unhurried time in a natural setting. In 2026 the Young Explorer's program will take place at the River Center where we'll spend time looking for signs of wildlife, exploring the Hidden Homes Trail, and learning about the plants and animals that make this area their home. Each day your camper will participate in singing, arts and crafts, dramatic play, and other hands-on activities led by our experienced staff of Young Explorers counselors. There will be time for water play and nature walks each day.  Parents and grandparents are welcome to stay and join in the fun. Young Explorers camp will take place Monday - Friday of each week!

Ages:  3 1/2 through entering Kindergarten (must be potty-trained)
Time:  9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
Cost:  $275 ($225 session fees; $50 non-refundable deposit). Parkway Donors at the $100 annual level or $10 per month Sustaining Donor or higher receive a 10% discount per registration; discount code must be entered during registration, discounts will not be given retroactively.  

To maintain competitive rates and hire the best staff possible, River Camp fees increase in direct proportion with CA state minimum wage. Partial scholarships at multiple levels are available to increase financial accessibility and inclusivity in River Camp programs. Cancellation Policy

 Full refunds (less the non-refundable deposit amount and any add-on fees) will be given if requested at least seven (7) days before your camp start date.  For cancellations made less than seven (7) days before your camp start date, refunds will only be given for medical or family emergencies.  The terms medical or family emergencies include any required quarantines due to  infection with COVID-19.  

Please note: A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration: $50 for Young Explorers. Full refunds (less the deposit amount) will be given if requested at least 7 days prior to your camp start date. All registrations are considered final. Once you have completed registration and payment, switching to another session will require cancelling your reservation, forfeiting the non-refundable deposit, and completing a new registration (including a new non-refundable deposit).

Young Explorers Scholarships

To Apply for a scholarship, please use the registration link below.  You will indicate your desired week during the registration process and pay the non-refundable deposit to reserve your camper's space.  If a scholarship is awarded, your camper will be moved into the appropriate session and you will be notified by e-mail.  The majority of awarded scholarships are partial, ranging from $25 to $225 of the $275 fee.  If there is a remaining balance on your account after a scholarship is awarded, it will be due 7 days prior to your session start date.

Inclusive Practices

River Camp is a place for children of all abilities. All children deserve the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive in the natural environment at their level. Striving to incorporate inclusive practices organization-wide, Parkway employs Support Counselors at River Camp programs to ensure programming is accessible to all children, ranging from frequent basic check-ins and extra breaks to 1:1 staff support to make certain each child’s needs are met.
