Born and raised in Fresno, Shirley has gotten her bachelor's degree in education from Fresno State. She started at the San Joaquin River Parkway and Trust as a counselor in 2018 and worked for about 5 summers and a school year. From there, she has worked in various parts of California and Alaska as a Naturalist and has since returned to Fresno. Without a doubt, the San Joaquin River has called her back to continue her journey with teaching and spreading the love and joy the river has to offer.
When she’s not looking for critters in the river, you can find her enjoying quiet hobbies like reading and painting, or more adrenaline-seeking sports like rock climbing, snowboarding, and scuba diving.
