Maryan’s camp superpower is being the human version of a clipboard, walkie-talkie, calendar, emergency snack, and color-coded checklist all at once. At River Camp, she helps with just about everything: camper check-in and check-out, supply runs, paperwork, phone calls, hiring, curriculum development, staff training, always stepping in wherever needed. If something needs to be done, Maryan is probably already making a list for it... and possibly a backup list, just in case.
This is Maryan’s 10th year with Parkway. She began as a Camp Counselor and has grown through multiple roles, including Education Programs Intern, Head Counselor, Firebaugh Camp Director, and now Assistant Director of River Camp Programs. Outside of camp, Maryan is also a full-time teacher, full-time graduate student, hard at work planning her wedding, embarking on hiking and/or camping adventures whenever she can, and taking classes at the dance studio at least 3 times a week - which explains her ability to juggle approximately 47 things at once. Through it all, Maryan brings a deep love for staff development, camper inclusion, creating the next generation of environmental stewards, and making River Camp a place where everyone can belong.
