Thomas (Tom) C. Harmon is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Founding Faculty member at the University of California Merced, where he currently serves as Director of the Sierra Nevada Research Institute (snri.ucmerced.edu) and Co-Director of the Experimental Smart Farm. His teaching and research interests involve developing technologies to monitor, remediate, and sustain environmental systems, including soil, groundwater, and surface water. Dr. Harmon earned a B.S. in civil engineering from Johns Hopkins University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Stanford University. He spends the majority of his time enjoying and studying water in lakes, rivers, and underground.
