Join us on a fun, exciting adventure! River Buddies Weekend Explorers takes your child on a journey like no other. As they adopt their new role of explorer, your child will go on a nature walk along the Hidden Homes Trail, sing fun and exciting songs, listen to a story about that day’s program theme, and participate in both a craft and hands on activity that are educational and fun! Your child will learn all about the local environment and animals that reside with us here at the River Center.
This program will focus on the Nature Neighbors theme:
- Hidden Homes Nature Trail: observe the many plants and animals that live on site and visit several larger-than-life animal homes along the way.
- Story and Song Time: learn about the visual differences between mammals, birds, and reptiles, help catergorize different critters by their body coverings, and sing a song about the differences between fur, feathers and scales.
- Animal Tracks: use life-sized animal track stamps to create tracks in the soft dirt or mud.
- Snake Skin Bandana: paint your very own snake skin bandana!
This adventure requires your child to be between the ages of 3 ½ to 6. Please note that there is a $10.00 fee per child and advanced registration with online payment is required for participation (please only select the number of CHILD participants when registering).
We will be meeting at the Picnic Area at the River Center (11605 Old Friant Rd, Fresno, CA.) The program commences at 9:00 am, so be sure to arrive in time to check in and complete a name tag and liability waiver for your child(ren). Please note that parents will be required to stay on the River Center property for the duration of the trip, and are encouraged to take part in the activities.
Please be sure to dress your child in clothing suitable for a morning outside, such as long pants, closed-toe shoes, etc. We invite you to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on site after the program is completed.
