Come in costume for this Halloween-themed nature walk! Clary Creager will be leading the hike from the River Center to the nearby riverfront at Owl Hollow. Children 10+ welcome.
Come out to the River Center on Halloween and see what's lurking by the river on a hike to Owl Hollow. We'll look for footprints left by night visitors, and we'll scan the sky for hungry vultures. For sure acorn woodpeckers will be clowning around, and stashing acorns away for winter. Don't miss the opportunity to learn a few of Owl Hollow's secrets on this Halloween nature walk!
Clary Creager has had the good fortune to live in the San Joaquin River bottom for the last forty years. She is one of the founding mothers of the Parkway. She is a naturalist for the Parkway and likes nothing better than to share with others the fascinating lives of the river's birds, bugs, mammals, and plants.
Participants will meet at the River Center and hike to Owl Hollow. To make the walk more comfortable, please dress appropriately (closed toed shoes, long pants, etc); costumes are encouraged! Please bring sunscreen, water, a snack, and your binoculars. We will walk slowly and take breaks, but terrain may be uneven.
Children 10+ welcome to participate.
