Education Docent Training - MUSD 6th Grade Sycamore Island Trips

Registration is closed for this event

The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our River Field Trip Education Programs.  If you’re interested in bringing youth together with nature by becoming an Education Docent, join us at this training to learn more about our upcoming field trip programs!

The training will introduce education docents to the MUSD 6th Grade field trips that take place at Sycamore Island Mondays-Fridays between February and April of each year.  Participants will be trained on each of the field trip activities, including:

  • Creepy Crawly River Critters (Aquatic Macroinvertebrate Exploration)
  • Photo Scavenger Hunt/Nature Walk
  • Team Building Games/Activities
  • Canoeing

We will go through each activity from start to finish, as well as practicing unloading and loading the canoe trailer and canoeing on the water.

We will be meeting at the Bait Shop at Sycamore Island at 9:00 am.  Sycamore Island is located at 39664 Ave 7 1/2 near Children's Hospital in Madera.  We will spend the day outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle.  Light snacks will be provided.

February 9th, 2019 9:00 AM   through   12:00 PM
