Does your “tween” enjoy the outdoors, facing new challenges, and meeting new people? Our NEW Weekend River Warriors program is just for them! Each three-hour long session we’ll do a variety hands-on teambuilding, leadership, and science and engineering activities in an outdoor setting along the San Joaquin River Parkway. Most program dates also include a cool craft to take home. Your River Warrior will use critical thinking skills while having fun and forming new friendships at each session! Weekend River Warriors is open to youth between the ages of 10 and 13 years old. The fee for each program session is $25 per child and online registration & payment in advance is required. Parents are not required to stay on site for the duration of the trip.
Join us for a morning of fun at Owl Hollow, the River Parkway Trust’s riverfront site located just north of the River Center. Activities will include:
Teambuilding: Put your communication skills to the test with a variety of games, including a few of our new low ropes course elements! Prepare to complete various puzzles, find yourself blindfolded and more! Facilitators have been properly trained on all low ropes elements. Masks will be required.
Ultimate Yeti: In this game players are assigned secret roles and must use their deduction and persuasion skills to figure out which player has which role, who is on their ‘team,’ and which player(s) may secretly be River Yetis hiding in plain sight. Masks will be required for portions of gameplay.
Leaning Tower of Pasta: Small groups are given the same set of materials and a task- to think like engineers and create the tallest, strongest tower they can in a set time with limited resources!
Paracord Survival Bracelets: Choose your cord colors and weave your own paracord survival bracelet to keep and take home.
Please bring a water bottle, snack, and mask to have on hand. Hand sanitizer will be provided. Dress appropriately for fluctuating fall weather and wear shoes that can get dirty. Owl Hollow is located just north of the River Center at 11605 Old Friant Rd, Fresno; follow signs along the road to the entrance gate. Each program date runs three hours, with most dates taking place on Saturday mornings or afternoons. Trips are run by background checked and fully trained staff and volunteer docents. Registration for each program date ends at 12:00 pm of the Friday prior to the event. Full refunds for cancellation made at least 72 hours in advance, no refunds for late cancellations or no-shows.
