Respite by the River

Thursday, June 8, 2023 – Reading by Dixie Salazar, Music by John Schafer and friends
Take a break from the rush of everyday life and join the River Parkway Trust for a Respite by the River. Bring your picnic dinner, blanket, and lawn chair, and relax at the River Center while you enjoy music provided by talented local musicians. Then you'll enjoy a reading by a Central Valley author. The evening schedule is as follows: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Live dinner music, bring your dinner, lawn chair, or blanket 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Reading by acclaimed author

Dixie Salazar has published six books of poetry: HOTEL FRESNO by Blue Moon Press in 1988, REINCARNATION OF THE COMMONPLACE (national poetry award winner) by Salmon Run Press in 1999, BLOOD MYSTERIES by University of Arizona in 2003 and FLAMENCO HIPS AND RED MUD FEET by Univ. of Arizona Press in 2009 and ALTAR FOR ESCAPED VOICES from Tebot Bach in 2013. Her newest collection is titled VOICE OF THE WIND from Brandenburg Press in 2018. LIMBO, her novel, was published by White Pine Press in 1995. CARMEN AND CHIA MIX MAGIC, s young adult fantasy novel was published by Black Opal books in May of 2014. Currently she shows oil paintings and collage work at the Silva/ Salazar studios at 654 Van Ness in Fresno, California. Website: dixiesalazar.com
