Join guide George F. for this hike exploring the flora and fauna of Sycamore Island. We'll enjoy late winter views of the Great Blue Heron rookery, and look for migratory birds and other wildlife. This hike may be anywhere from 1-3 miles, and will last approximately 2 hours.
We will be meeting at the Sycamore Island bait shop at 9 am. Please dress appropriately for a morning outdoors and bring water, sunscreen, a hat, and binoculars. Leader will have some loaner binoculars available. Children 10+ welcome.
To get to Sycamore Island:Take Highway 41 north, exit Children’s Boulevard. Follow Children’s Boulevard until it turns into Avenue 9. Turn left on Road 40, right on Avenue 7½, turn left into third driveway at 39664 Avenue 7½. Follow the drive down the hill to the main entrance gate. Follow signs for the bait shop.
