Education Docent Training - MUSD 6th Grade River Center Trips

Registration is closed for this event
The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our River Field Trip Education Programs. If you’re interested in bringing youth together with nature by becoming an Education Docent, join us at this workshop to learn more!

This training introduces Education Docents to the various educational programs offered by the River Parkway Trust and prepares them to lead Madera Unified 6th Grade field trips at the River Center.  These field trips take place from 9 am-1:00 pm on Tuesdays-Fridays throughout October and November.

Topics will include:

  • Program orientation
  • Leading a field trip/group management
  • Demonstrations of the 4 activities done on this type of field trip
  • Leading a nature walk at the Hidden Homes Trail

We will be on-site at the River Center for the duration of the morning.  Please bring a refillable water bottle, dress appropriately, and be prepared to spend most of the morning outside.  Snacks and all activity and training materials will be provided.
