Birding Hike at Sycamore Island
Join us for a spring birding hike at Sycamore Island in Madera. We'll enjoy views of the Great Blue Heron rookery, and look for migratory birds an other wildlife.
Guide Larry Parmeter is a retired educator who is passionate about connecting the community to our natural environment. He is an avid birder, and loves sharing his knowledge with others.
We will be meeting at the bait shop at Sycamore Island at 8:00 am. To get to Sycamore Island: Take HWY 41 to Children's Blvd, follow Children's Blvs until it turns into Ave 9. Turn left on Rd 40 and follow it until it curves right into Avenue 7 1/2. Sycamore Island will be on your left. Follow signs to bait shop. Address is 39664 Avenue 7 1/2, Madera, CA.
Please dress appropriately (closed toed shoes, long pants, etc.) and bring a hat, sunscreen, water, binoculars and a small snack. Some loaner binoculars will be available. Children 12+ welcome, no dogs please.
