Join us on April 15th to explore the San Joaquin River Parkway Trail section between the San Joaquin Fish Hatchery and Lost Lake Park. The Friant Interactive Nature Site (FINS) includes the San Joaquin Trout and Salmon Hatcheries, the Small Fry Children's Trail, and a short section of the Parkway Trail. This easy hike will be about ~2 miles round trip. Bring quarters to feed the fish at the Trout Hatchery when you are finished!
Guide Bill Wattenbarger has been leading nature walks for the Trust for over 10 years. He has a Biology degree from Fresno State, with a particular interest in life sciences, and has worked for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the National Parks Service in addition to serving as a boy scouts troop leader.
Participants will meet at the FINS parking lot near the corner of Flemming and Friant in Friant. To get to FINS from Fresno: head north on Friant Rd past Lost Lake Park and into the town of Friant. Do a U Turn at Flemming Rd (near Sandals at the Beach). The parking lot will be on your right.
Please dress appropriately (closed toed shoes, long pants, etc.) and bring a hat, sunscreen, water, binoculars and a small snack. Children of all ages welcome!
