In 1970, Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin founded Earth Day. Now celebrated around the world, it's a day when we pause to think about the environment and come together to make a difference. Join us as we perform some light weeding, mulching, and build protective cages for the young plants at our Spano Ranch Habitat Enhancement Project. This event will run from 9:00am until 12:00pm and is a great opportunity for all individuals and groups. There is no longterm commitment and all tools are provided.
To get there from Fresno:
- Exit highway 41 North at Friant Road
- Turn Right (northeast) onto Friant Road towards Woodward Park
- Turn Left (west) onto Audubon Drive and continue past the park and across the overpass
- Turn Right onto Del Mar Avenue and then make your first left onto Riverview Drive. The gate will be straight ahead.
Save time by printing and filling out a volunteer service agreement from our River Stewards webpage and bring it with you. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian.
Take care to protect yourself from the heat. Bring a refillable water bottle, put on sunscreen, and wear a hat.
