FRESNO, CA - The River Parkway Trust is launching a series of Pre-K educational field trips open to the public at The River Center facility in northeast Fresno. During each two-hour long program session, children will go on an hour long nature walk, do a craft activity, sing fun and educational songs, listen to a story, and participate in a stimulating hands-on activity relating to one of three educational themes (Bug Buddies, Bird Buddies, and Pond Pals.) This educational program is designed to encourage continued exploration of our local environment and its native species.
River Buddies Weekend Explorers is open to children ages 3 ½ to 6 years old. The cost for each session is $7 per child, and sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Most dates will take place on Saturday mornings. The program gives families the opportunity to engage in the outdoors together and encourages parents to participate in the activities with their child.
“We’re thrilled to offer this new opportunity for children to experience The San Joaquin River Parkway.” said Julia O’Kane, E.d.D., Board Member and retired Superintendent of Madera Unified School District. “It’s always amazing to watch kids get excited when they’re learning something new, and it gets you excited about it, too.”
The River Parkway Trust has provided outdoor environmental education programs, including field trips and summer day camps, for more than 25 years. This program will allow the Trust to reach a new audience by offering these field trip experiences as one-day sessions open to the public.
